Ticketmaster has officially launched in Colombia following its acquisition of ticketing platform La Tiquetera.
TM already has operations in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Peru and has now further strengthened its presence in the Latin American market.
The Live Nation-owned ticketing platform says the deal will see the integration of Medellín-based La Tiquetera’s “deep knowledge of the local market and client network” with Ticketmaster’s “cutting-edge technology, operational expertise and distribution capabilities”.
“This acquisition not only expands Ticketmaster’s reach and strengthens its offering for national and regional promoters but also enhances the fan experience by ensuring a more efficient, secure, and innovative service,” it adds.
Ticketmaster processes hundreds of millions of tickets annually in more than 35 markets.
“Our arrival in Colombia marks a key step in Ticketmaster’s expansion in Latin America, solidifying our global leadership with cutting-edge technology and a market-adapted approach,” says Adam Newsam, Ticketmaster’s EVP, Latin America. “We are investing in infrastructure, innovation, and local talent to provide the best possible experience to fans, artists, venues and promoters in the country.
“With the acquisition of La Tiquetera SAS, we strengthen our presence in Colombia and offer the industry advanced tools to take live entertainment to a new level.”
“With Ticketmaster’s arrival, Colombia gains access to world-class infrastructure”
As part of TM’s expansion in the country, Colombia’s Eticket platform has also completed its transition to Ticketmaster, fully integrating into the firm’s global network.
“With Ticketmaster’s arrival, Colombia gains access to world-class infrastructure that raises the standard of the entertainment industry in the country,” adds Andres Fierro, director of Ticketmaster Colombia.
Buoyed by homegrown superstars such as Shakira, Karol G, and Juanes, Colombia’s live entertainment sector has swelled 10.6% in the past year according to financial institution Bancolombia, as well as achieving 133% GDP growth over the last decade.
In May, Live Nation unveiled a partnership to operate its first venue in Colombia – Cali’s Arena Cañaveralejo – through Ocesa and Grupo Páramo. It previously acquired a majority stake in Colombian promoter Páramo Presenta in 2023.
