In his opening letter, GPR editor James Drury conveys that the growth of live music is ramping up globally, but unevenly.

“As multinational promoters continue their M&A activity, independents everywhere, from France to the US, warn that real estate and routing access are being controlled by a few mega-promoters.
“Across the world, promoters cite production, transport, and labour costs as having risen between 30-45% since the pandemic. Many report they can’t pass all these increases to audiences due to ticket price sensitivity.
“Almost every promoter interviewed expresses confidence in continued growth. But under the surface lie warnings: declining government support, talent bottlenecks, and a widening gap between megastar tours and grassroots circuits. The industry is booming – but more top-heavy than ever.”
